Eric Conway: Jazz Symposium Friday, April 12, 10 AM, Murphy Center Recital Hall

Dr. Eric Conway writes:

Hello all,

Many of you already know that on this coming Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 4PM, Cyrus Chestnut will present a jazz piano recital featuring music of Edward Kennedy “Duke" Ellington at the Murphy Fine Arts Center on the campus of Morgan State University.

In association with the Chestnut Jazz Piano Concert, the department will present a Jazz symposium around the topic of the historical significance of Duke Ellington and his music.  We have invited three jazz pundits, Dr. John Lamkin, Dr. Leroy Barton, and Mr. Charles Funn to lead in this the panelist discussion of the music of Duke Ellington.

All are invited to attend this lively discussion of the Duke’s music.  Admission is FREE!   The panel discussion will begin at 10AM on Friday, April 12, 2019 in the Murphy Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.  Hope that you can attend!
