Premiere performance of
Dr. Joyce Moorman's Jazz Concertino
featuring Juilliard Flutist, Gordon Halligan.
Dr.
Joyce Moorman is an African American composer who serves as Professor
of Music at the Borough of Manhatttan Community College in New York
City. Her works include operas, symphonies and solo works for piano and
flute.
Prof.
Moorman's Opera, "Elegies for the Fallen" has been
performed with Yvonne Hatchett, Soprano at UCLA in Los Angeles and in
New York at the Africa Meets North America Concerts. Dr. Moorman's
chamber works have been performed at the Lincoln Center and Carnegie
Hall. She was the winner of the Vienna Modern Masters 1998 Millennium
Commission Competition.
