"Bethlehem,
Pa., April 5, 2012--Acclaimed pianist Leon Bates will be performing
with the Moravian College Community Orchestra on Sunday, April 15, at
7:00 p.m. in Foy Concert Hall. Bates will also be giving a lecture prior
to the performance at 4 p.m. Donald Spieth will conduct the Moravian
College Community Orchestra which is composed of students, alumni, and
community members."
"Bates’ musical career began at age six, on piano and violin,
and his talent was obvious from the start. He studied at the Tempe
University Esther Boyer College of Music. Also popular at summer festivals, Bates has performed at the
Hollywood Bowl, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, Chicago's
Grant Park, the Lake Tahoe Festival and at the Mann Music Center with
the Philadelphia Orchestra. Bates also periodically performs on summer
tours with the Boston Pops. In 2007, Bates was awarded the NANM
(National Association of Negro Musicians) honoring his musical prowess
and his work with young people."
Tickets are $10 for the general public, and $5 for Moravian students
