Concerto premiere
Violinist Er-Gene Kahng, a faculty member at the University of
Arkansas, Fayetteville, will solo in the world premiere of the recently
discovered Violin Concerto No. 2 by Little Rock native Florence
Price (1888-1953) with the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra and
conductor Steven Byess, 7 p.m. Saturday at the Arend Arts Center, 1901
S.E. J St., Bentonville. The University of Arkansas Inspirational
Chorale (directed by Jeffrey Murdock) will also perform.

The performance caps off a three-day Black History Month celebration
of Price's career at the university, Thursday-Saturday, that will
include a screening of the documentary The Caged Bird: The Life and Music of Florence B. Price
with a panel discussion, 5:30 p.m. Thursday, in Giffels Auditorium, Old
Main, 459 Campus Drive, Fayetteville. Admission is free. Visit
