Sergio Mims: Jonathon Heyward appointed Chief Conductor, North German Philharmonic

Some exciting news about conductor Jonathon Heyward.
Conductor Jonathon Heyward, has been named Chief Conductor of the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, (North German Philharmonic) in Herford Germany starting January 2021.
The South Carolina born Heyward, 26, is presently assistant conductor at the Halle Orchestra in Manchester and his past engagements have included orchestras such as St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, Basel Symphony Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Panda Wind Orchestra in Japan, the Philharmonie Zuidnederland, Orchestre National de Lille, the Orchestre National de Lorraine, Chineke! Orchestra in the UK, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
And his concerts this season included conducting along with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra Hallé, Wüttembergisches Kammerorchester and Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa from Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon, the Osaka Symphony Orchestra and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.
The NWDP, based in Herford Germany, plays across North Rhine-Westphalia in such towns as Paderborn, Gütersloh and Detmold.
