Hello!
I would love to inform AfriClassical of Castle
of our Skins's upcoming week-long, multi-event project called I AM A
MAN 2019. It is a celebration of Black masculinity and humanity through
the lens of this iconic civil rights declaration. The project includes
community events for people of all ages, a free screening of I Am Not Your Negro,
a solo recital featuring internationally acclaimed cellist Seth Parker
Woods playing works by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Alvin Singleton,
Nathalie Joachim, and George Lewis, and a grand Finale with spoken word
(Regie Gibson), dance (Ramiro Vaughan Purpose), improvisation, and music
by Thomas Martin, Blind Tom Wiggins, Ed Bland, Evan Williams, and a
world premiere by Brian Raphael Nabors. The ensemble comprises Julian
Otis (tenor voice), Orlando Cela (flute), Lecolion Washington (bassoon),
Julian Loida (percussion), Ashleigh Gordon (viola), and Sarah Bob
(piano). We cannot wait to present this exciting week, and we hope that
some of the AfriClassical community can attend!
Thanks,
Anthony
