The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) Joins the Nation in Celebrating National Police Week
[Alexandria, VA] From
its headquarters near the heart of our nation's capital, the National
Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) shares its
pride in honoring law enforcement officers and survivors during National Police Week, May 12-18, 2019.
Established in 1962 by a joint resolution of Congress and signed
into law by President John F. Kennedy, National Police Week recognizes
all law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of
duty for the safety and protection of others. The week is highlighted by
the National Peace Officers Memorial Day, May 15. Each year, National
Police Week draws between 25,000 to 40,000 law enforcement officers and
survivors to the nation's capital, and comprises several events.
"Advancing the cause of justice in our communities is a great honor
and responsibility for our law enforcement officers, and sometimes, it
exacts the ultimate price," said Vera Bumpers, NOBLE National President.
"We remember and acknowledge the men and women who lost their lives in
service to protect and honor the oath they took. We welcome all law
enforcement officers and survivors to the 2019 National Police Week."
