John Malveaux: 'Mezzo Soprano Denyce Graves has shared her international talent in at least three operas outside standard repertoire'

Earlier today, AfriClassical posted:

Patrick D. McCoy at Examiner.com: Composer Steven Allen talks about upcoming performance of his opera "The Poet"; Based on life of Paul Laurence Dunbar

John Malveaux has made a comment by email.  We feel it deserves a post in its own right, so it is reproduced here:

Mezzo Soprano Denyce Graves has shared her international talent in at least three operas outside standard repertoire of note to me: Margaret Garner, Champion, and now The Poet. Each of these operas are specific to the African descent history. This is of note to me because MusicUNTOLD have been privileged to engage services of Ms. Graves and I don't think any other African American opera star who has performed in every major opera house in the world has made a similar contribution.  John Malveaux
