Thomas Wilkins, the
Omaha Symphony’s music director since 2005, has been named principal
conductor for the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra in Los Angeles. The new role
will not interfere with his duties in Omaha.
Wilkins had served
as the principal guest conductor of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra since
2008. He has led 50 concerts at the outdoor amphitheater over the past
six years. He will conduct eight concerts there in 2014, beginning with
an opening night event on June 21 featuring Kristin Chenoweth, The
Go-Go’s, Pink Martini, Carol Burnett and actress and singer Lea Michele.
