Works of Handel-Halvorsen, Saint-Saëns, Mozart,
Grieg, Shostakovich and Ludovic Lamothe, Haitian composer.
The
Embassy of Haiti in France and the Haitian conductor Tido Dejan are
organizing a Dec. 11 concert of chamber music with the exceptional
participation of Haitian violinist Romel Joseph to give recognition
to a little-known aspect of Haitian culture through the performance
of one of its most talented performers of extracts from the work of
composer Ludovic Lamothe. In collaboration with his daughter
Victoria, violin and viola, and Romanian pianist Ioana Lupascu, Romel
Joseph will perform works of Handel-Halvorsen, Saint-Saëns, Mozart,
Grieg, Shostakovich and Ludovic Lamothe.
The
Embassy and Tido Dejan want you to discover the talent of Romel
Joseph, his activities in Haiti and Miami for music education for
all, and finally a portrait of a man and his resilience despite
handicaps and the earthquake.
[Ludovic
Lamothe (1882-1953) was a Haitian
composer and pianist who was sometimes called "A
Black Chopin" and who is profiled at AfriClassical.com, which
features a complete Works List by Dominique-René de Lerma,
