John Malveaux of www.MusicUNTOLD.com writes:
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Lincoln in 1863, Gail Anderson was commissioned by USPS
art director Antonio Alcalá to produce the stamp. "To evoke the look of
broadsides from the Civil War era, they employed Hatch Show Print of
Nashville, Tennessee, one of the oldest working letterpress print shops
in the United States."
Stamps can be pre-ordered at usps.com/stamps
or 800-STAMP24 (800-782-6724) for delivery a few days following the
dedication ceremony. Five thousand limited-edition 16-by-23-inch posters
featuring the stamp art will be available for purchase starting today.
The posters were printed in letterpress printing process, each one has
been numbered, and the first 1,000 will be autographed by Ms. Anderson.
Thanks,
John Malveaux
