Dr. Dane Teter on 'Little Red Schoolhouse' of William Grant Still: 'The work was originally composed for orchestra'

[Works for Symphonic Band: William Grant Still, Florence B. Price; Northern Arizona University Wind Symphony; Dr. Patricia J. Hoy, Conductor; Cambria CD-1058]

Earlier today, AfriClassical posted: "Dr. Dane Teter Conducts El Camino College Symphony Orchestra in 'LittleRed Schoolhouse' of William Grant Still on YouTube.” Dr. Dane Teter has graciously responded with additional information on the composition and the performance:

Thank you. The work was originally composed for orchestra and later transcribed for concert band. You will note that The Eqyptian Princess in the band version is much faster than the orchestra. There was an error in the tempo indication on the band arrangement.”
