International Saint-Georges Festival, Founded by Marlon Daniel, Launches French Website

[Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745-1799)]

AfriClassical is pleased to present an announcement of the French-language website of The International Saint-Georges Festival. Our English translation is as follows:

“Dear Friend of Music,
We are pleased to share the opening of our site http://www.festivalinternationalsaintgeorges.org,
a prelude to the Festival to be held in Guadeloupe in April 2011. This site will evolve over the course of the year and you will find it enriched with many pages for Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Feel free to send us your comments, suggestions or your expectations. We hope you will join us for this first season of the Festival in
the birthplace of the Chevalier!
Musically yours,
Jean-Claude Halley
Catherine Pizon
... for the organizing committee”

The website opens with this introduction, again translated from French:
“The International Saint-Georges Festival was created at the initiative of Maestro Marlon Daniel, the African American conductor. The Festival's purpose is to pay tribute to Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, in the land of his birth. The first season will take place in April 2011 in Bailiff and Basse-Terre.” [AfriClassical.com presents extensive information on the life, music and fencing career of Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745-1799).]
