Challenge the Stats and Concerts At First will present Music for the Crisis, a virtual concert, on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 8 p.m, featuring 11
African American classical musicians using the power of music to
respond to the reality of racial injustice surfacing in our nation
during the time of COVID-19.
The
free online concert will include engaging musical performances
featuring the Southeast premiere of Joel Thompson's "In Response to the
Madness" for String Quartet, Brandee Younger's Harp Solo "Essence of
Ruby", and commentary from healthcare workers and advocates currently on
the frontline pushing for change.
Among
the performers are New World Symphony Violinist Chelsea Sharpe, Atlanta
Symphony Orchestra Principal Bassoon, Andrew Brady; Soprano Jayme
Alilaw, resident artist with the Atlanta Opera; Concert pianist and composer, Brittney Boykin and Harpist Angelica Hairston, the founder of Challenge the Stats.
