Sphinx Monthly News: 2019 Sphinx Competition Semi-Finalists Selected

Sphinx has selected 19 of the most talented Black and Latinx string musicians to compete at the 22nd Annual Sphinx Competition sponsored by DTE Energy Foundation! Congratulations to all of this years' applicants on making this a highly competitive process.

Don't Miss the 22nd Annual Sphinx Competition Finals Concert

Tickets are on sale now for our first Saturday evening concert, complete with a dance reception after the performance! Join us in Detroit on February 2 at 7:30pm, where the Sphinx Competition Senior Division finalists will compete for the $50,000 Robert Frederick Smith Prize. The concert will include performances by the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra; and EXIGENCE, a vocal ensemble led by Eugene Rogers.

Sessions at Curtis Institute of Music Summerfest and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Open to Black and Latinx string players, ages 11-17.
 


Overture teachers wrap up the fall semester, including teacher training with topics ranging from Classroom Management to Youth Engagement.
