Hello Morgan Fine Arts Community,
On
this coming Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 7:30, the Morgan, Towson,
& Montclair State Universities join forces to perform Mahler's
Resurrection Symphony! This concert will feature the choral ensembles
of the Towson and Morgan State University Choirs. The orchestra include
musicians from the Towson and Montclair State University Orchestras.
The resultant ensemble will feature no fewer than a 110 person
orchestra and 130 person choir! You should come out just to see this
many persons on stage at one time! This performance will have an
unprecedented number of performers on the large Gilliam stage at one
time! Mahler’s very famous Resurrection Symphony requires grandiose
numbers to adequately convey the power of this piece. Prior to the
Mahler, the ensemble will perform Aldolphus Hailstork’s I Will Lift Up
Mine Eyes. Marquita Lister and Anamer Castrello will be soloists for
Mahler. Antonio Chase will be the soloist for the Hailstork! Julien
Benichou will conduct the Mahler, and I will conduct the Hailstork. Both
pieces have themes of looking toward the heavens for eternal glory!
This promises to be a very spiritual concert. If you are free on this
Saturday evening at 7:30 PM, please plan on attending this concert.
Tickets are $20 with $5 student tickets.
