Philadelphia
native and Metropolitan Opera mainstay
Eric Owens has found a second
home in Chicago.
This season, he returns to Lyric Opera Chicago to
make his role debut as Vodník in Rusalka,
his
third Lyric company
premiere. Previously, he
earned critical praise in the title role of
Handel’s
Hercules and
in John Adams’s Doctor
Atomic as
General Leslie
Groves with the company. Over the
next several seasons, Owens will
spend time
in Chicago not only performing as Porgy in the
2014-15
production of Porgy and
Bess and making his
role
debut as Wotan in the new 2016-17 Ring
cycle,
but acting as
Lyric Opera of Chicago's inaugural Lyric
Unlimited Community
Ambassador with Ana María
Martínez, who currently stars in Rusalka.
