Pianist Calvin Taylor will present a piano recital on Tuesday, February 18, at 7:00 p.m. at Euro Pianos Naples’ Recital Hall, 975 Imperial Golf Course Blvd., Naples.
Tickets are $20.00 at the door or may be purchased in advance by calling (615) 295-5795. Featured will be classical, sacred, and popular favorites.

On the program: R. Schumann, C. Gounod, C. Saint-Saëns, a special improvised suite, Moments with Beethoven, spirituals arranged by the recitalist, The Patriotic Piano, and selections from the Great American Songbook. With a large hand span of over 1 1/2 octaves, Calvin presents sounds and colors at the keyboard that would normally require four hands. Recordings and printed keyboard music will be available.


Born 1948 in Los Angeles, composer, pianist, and organist Calvin Taylor was drawn to music as a young child. He began playing in all keys at five years, and by age fourteen was serving as organist in several southern California churches.

Among Dr. Taylor's keyboard works are Spirituals for Piano, The Patriotic Piano, Grand Spirituals Collection, Spirituals for Worship, Five Spirituals for Organ, and Spiritual Suite for Organ. As part of the celebration of fifty years of African American presence at the University of Kentucky, Calvin Taylor was commissioned to write Choral Fantasia on Deep River. The seventeen-minute work for orchestra and chorus received its world premier by the U.K. Symphony Orchestra and choirs, and has received numerous performances throughout America, most recently by the Salt Lake City Symphony and 180-strong Utah Voices.
