A welcome reception and artist talk with Carmen de Lavallade with
special clips from recent interviews with Geoffrey Holder was presented
at California African American Museum on Thursday evening, January 9,
2014 to open the exhibition, A Memoir in Movement Carmen de Lavallade & Geoffrey Holder.
The vibrant exhibit is filled with memorable photographs and images,
paintings, sculptures, custon-designed gowns, actual Tony Awards and
award winning costume designs. Included is an array of performance
programs, books and ephemera that illuminates their towering talents.

Bill, and Mr. Malveaux, Today is an especially warm day, despite the nation's weather. Lavallade and Holder are
bright lights in my life. I only saw them perform once, but it was
breathtaking. The brilliance of our artists has been important and
