There was a rebroadcast on WFMT (Chicago) this morning of Andrew Patner's 10 best music events in Chicago in 2013, following an assignment from the Sun Times (which probably published his report as well).  Considering the major events consistently presented in Chicago, it is most impressive that he selected South Shore Opera Company's production of Troubled island as no. 1 for the year.  Further, he advocated a major production [by the Lyric?  -- and if the production was so outstanding, why not with the same cast and conductor??!].  Surely the Lyric's administration is aware of Patner's enthusiasm.  Even if he ranked it as no. 10, there is an obligation to consider his words.  Actually they should have sent a representative to the performance as a professional obligation, and at least a notice should have been printed in Opera News.
