14th Annual Concert Music Awards to Honor Tania León, Jon Deak, Steve Smith and Morton Gould
New York, NY, May 13, 2013: The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP)
will hold its 14th annual Concert Music Awards on Friday, May 17th,
2013 at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center in New York City.
ASCAP member, composer, musician and author Peter Schickele will
host the invitation-only event, which will recognize the achievements of
ASCAP’s 2013 Concert Music Honorees who represent the diverse aesthetic
spectrum of the concert music world.
Among the evening's presenters will be Derek Bermel, Steven Burke, Claire Chase, David Del Tredici, Douglas Geers, James M. Kendrick, Stephen Paulus, Alex Shapiro, and ASCAP’s Paul Williams, John LoFrumento, Frances Richard, Michael Spudic and Cia Toscanini.
The 2013 Concert Music Awards honorees are:
Tania León, Founder & Artistic Director, Composers Now Festival, Distinguished Professor, City University of New York
ASCAP presents the Victor Herbert Award to ASCAP member Tania León in
celebration of her 70th year and for her achievements as composer,
conductor, educator, mentor, composer advocate and exemplary musical
citizen.
