ASC [Arts & Science Council] Honors Sphinx
Charlotte, NC 28202
Sphinx Virtuosi, a chamber orchestra comprised of alumni from the Sphinx
Competition for young Black and Latino string players, has earned rave
reviews throughout the world. The New York Times described their
performances as "first rate in every way." The group's appearance in
Charlotte includes Piazzolla's Four Seasons, and music by Villa-Lobos.
Co-presented with the generous support of the Arts & Science Council
in celebration of its 2012 ASC Honors recipients for lifetime
achievement in the arts, sciences and history.
