[Leo Brouwer]

"The Allentown Symphony Orchestra's Schadt String Competition is an annual feature of early-March music-making. The winner always gets an opportunity to solo the following year with the orchestra.
"This year's competition was held last weekend. It was the year of classical guitar — the contest cycles between violin, cello and guitar — and the winner was Petrit Ceku of Prizen, Kosovo. Ceku, 25, a student at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, performed Leo Brouwer's Tres Danzas Concertantes." [The Afro-Cuban composer, guitarist and conductor Leo Brouwer (b. 1939) is profiled at AfriClassical.com]
