It’s taken a remarkably short time for the artistry of soprano Julia Bullock to become one of the bedrocks of Bay Area musical life. From her powerhouse performance in John Adams’ opera “Girls of the Golden West” to her upcoming contributions as one of eight “collaborative partners” around San Francisco Symphony Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen, Bullock has made herself invaluable.
All the more reason to look forward to her recital with pianist Laura Poe, the latest weekly installment in the Cal Performances at Home series.
Recorded at her home in Munich, Bullock offers a program that includes music by the African American composers Margaret Bonds and William Grant Still, as well as lieder by Wolf and Schumann, and selections from “Girls of the Golden West” and “The Sound of Music.”
Julia Bullock: Cal Performances at Home. 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14. $5-$56. www.calperformances.org
