Sphinx News - Special Spring Edition

A Note From Our President

Dear La Familia,

I write to each of you during these unprecedented, critically challenging times with a sense of honor and pride. During this season, every member of the Sphinx Team has mobilized to use their creativity, adaptability, and passion to advance Sphinx’s mission. Like every one of our partners across the world, we have had to reimagine our immediate programming as well as future efforts, from remote teaching, postponed performances, and beyond. We are honored and humbled to work with our artists in responding to this time with collaboration and resiliency.

At Sphinx, we pride ourselves on being a resource and advocate for our community the same way our community advocates for us. In light of today’s global crisis, we’ve launched the Sphinx Artist Fund to assist our arts community during these difficult times. Visit this page for more information.

The Sphinx Team cannot express how grateful we are to all of you for the success of our 23rd Annual Sphinx Competition and SphinxConnect. We had our most significant turn out yet with more than 800 attendees, and we hope to see that number continue to grow. The ripple effects of this work are seen in the ingenuity that has been coming from our artists and partners, many of whom are advancing our mission and the importance of diversity in our sector in powerful ways.

Please know that we remain committed, even more than ever before, to our community and our mission.  I know that we will come together and emerge even stronger, and I hope that we may count on each of you to help us build new pathways and continue to strengthen our work.
Warmly,
Afa

Afa S. Dworkin
President & Artistic Director
