In times like these, our stories are more important than ever.
Even before data was released that showed COVID-19 is affecting the
Black community disproportionately, we all knew this pandemic would
negatively impact our people the most. Why? Because the racism embedded
in this country’s infrastructure is all the fuel that the coronavirus
needed to spread.
The truth is that Black people are not safe in this country, whether it
be from bigotry, police brutality, or the coronavirus. This is our
reality, and at this moment we need people who will continue to shine a
light on these injustices.
NAACP has partnered with Ed Gordon to bring you Black Media Speaks - a
candid conversation with leading Black journalists on the importance of
telling Black stories. This Wednesday, May 20 at 8pm ET, join us as Ed Gordon moderates the conversation between:
- Jemele Hill
- Earl “Butch” Graves
- April Ryan
- Jeff Johnson
- Dorothy Tucker
William, stay alert, stay informed, stay safe.
Sincerely,
Derrick Johnson
