March 9, 2017Charleston SCThe Charleston Gospel Choir is pleased to present its 2017 spring performance entitled Women: Honoring Global Sisterhood, Saturday, April 8, 5:00 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 405 King Street, Charleston, under the musical direction of David A. Richardson.

Through song and narration, the performance showcases the historical struggles of African-American women here in the U.S. and around the globe. Paying homage to the achievements of these women, the Choir will celebrate the struggles and triumphs of our mothers, sisters, aunts, and family of women.

The internationally acclaimed Choir will perform moving gospel and spiritual standards by gospel greats including Walter Hawkins’ He's That Kind of Friend, Hezekiah Walker’s Grateful, Richard Smallwood’s Trust Me, and many others. The lyrics of chosen selections will honor our sisters-at-large for their integrity here and around the globe.

“Women have always provided our communities with stability, but most importantly have given us our future, through birth and nurturing and raising of children. Conceiving and producing a performance in their honor is a highlight of my shared 17-year experience with the choir,” said Lee Pringle, Choir President and event producer.

“I gain so much comfort preparing the Choir for this moving collection of songs carefully chosen to convey how all of us feel about the strong women in our lives and their achievements. I look forward to lifting this music up high to demonstrate our love and togetherness,” said David A. Richardson, Music Director.
