Symphony’s annual Holiday Pops to bring seasonal classics to New Bern

Published: Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 14:23 PM.
Santa Claus isn’t the only one coming to town. The North Carolina Symphony will bring beloved holiday music to New Bern Tuesday with Holiday Pops, a tradition that has become a favorite across the state.
Led by Resident Conductor William Henry Curry, the 7 p.m. concert is at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center.
The state’s premier orchestra will present treasured celebrations of the season, beginning with “Christmas Overture,” by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, followed by a beautiful arrangement of a holiday classic titled “Fantasia on Greensleeves.”

The program also features orchestral holiday classics with a piece from the beloved Tchaikovsky ballet “The Nutcracker” as well as “Dance of the Tumblers” from Rimsky-Korsakov’s “The Snow Maiden.”
