Christiane Eda-Pierre (b. 1932)
Soprano, born in
Fort-de-France., Martinique. She enrolled in the Paris Conservatory
where she was a voice student of J. Decrais and Charles Panzéra. She
graduated with honors in 1957 and made her debut in Nice, with the role of
Lelïla in Les pecheurs de perles. Her debut at the Opéra-Comique followed the next year in Lakmé.
In
1977 she joined the faculty of the Paris Conservatory while continuing
her career. Among her students were Sylvie Valayre, Nora Gubisch, and
Magali Léger*. She also teaches at the Académie Musicale de Villeroze.
She
also served on the jury of the Académie de l'Opéra Comique in 2011 and
2013, and the 2011 joury of Nadia and Lili Boulanger International
