Barbara Wright-Pryor writes:

Dear Bill,

Thank you for posting Sergio Mims' notification of Brandon Keith Brown's upcoming conducting debut with The Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the training orchestra of The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Riccardo Muti, Music Director.

Brandon Keith Brown is a member of Chicago Music Association (CMA), Branch No. 1, The National Association of Negro Musicians, inc. (Since 1919), the organization that I currently serve as President.

We are also pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Brown to the music faculty of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst effective September, 2013.
Brown holds degrees in violin performance from The Bienen School of Music of Northwestern University and in orchestral conducting from The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University where he studied with Lorin Maazel and other outstanding orchestra conductors.

Additionally, Brandon Keith Brown was the third-prize winner of the 2011 Sir Georg Solti International Conducting Competition.

The music world will be hearing much more from Brandon Keith Brown, conductor, in the very near future.  My recent hospitalization and subsequent recuperation are responsible for the delay of a special feature article on Mr. Brown currently in preparation.

Thank you, as always, for keeping the world abreast of the outstanding events that occur daily in "The World of Music."  (Pardon the plug for my weekly column in The Chicago Crusader, Chicago's oldest Black-owned weekly newspaper {est. 1940} ).

Musically yours,
Barbara (Wright-Pryor)
