Trent Johnson: 'Celebration of New Jersey Composers, Performers and Friends' May 5

Trent Johnson writes:

Dear Mr. Zick,
I wanted to let you know about a wonderful musical event that recently took place in New Jersey. A benefit concert for the Watchung Arts Center in New Jersey took place entitled “A Celebration of New Jersey Composers, Performers and Friends” on May 5. The concert featured some exciting new music being composed in the Garden State, and included five world premieres. The program included Sonata for clarinet and piano by Roger Stubblefield, Seascapes for viola and piano by Amanda Harberg, Deep Sky Blue for viola and piano by Jonathan Newman, the song cycle Songs of Irony by Trent Johnson, set to poems of Stephen Crane, Nocturne for viola and piano by Roger Stubblefield, Homage to Chadwick by Thomas Parente, Prelude, Meditation and Fugue by Paul Somers, and Trio for Percussion by Alan Buxbaum. The performers included Andrew Lamy clarinet, Brett Deubner viola, Rufus Müller tenor, Alan Buxbaum percussion, and pianists Sophia Agranovich, Amanda Harberg and Trent Johnson.
