4-hand and 2-piano works by David Lang, Leo Smit, Errollyn Wallen & Pablo Ziegler
Split Second explores the sonic worlds of 4-hand and 2-piano works by a diverse group of composers – David Lang, Lionel Nowak, Allen Shawn, Leo Smit, Errollyn Wallen and Pablo Ziegler.
With the exception of David Lang, the composers were/are recognized interpreters of their own music as well as champions of the works of other composers. Smit made the first recording of the complete works of Aaron Copland. Pablo Ziegler was the longtime pianist for Astor Piazzolla. Shawn and Nowak were/are based at Bennington College. The Shawn, Ziegler, Nowak and Wallen are dance and folk influenced. The Lang and Smit are meditative and introspective.
