Dr. Ronald A. Crutcher, 10th President of the University of Richmond to appear on “Across the Arts” with Creator + Host Patrick D. McCoy on July 16 at 11:00 a.m. EDT

Dr. Ronald A. Crutcher will be interviewed virtually by DC area based arts journalist Patrick D. McCoy.  The interview will be live-streamed on“Across the Arts” and Facebook concurrently as a part of “The Conversation Series” focusing on administrators and the arts.

Crutcher is a national leader in higher education, a distinguished classical musician and accomplished administrator.  He became the 10th President of the University of Richmond in 2015.  Throughout his career, he has actively promoted access, affordability and inclusive excellence.

Dr. Crutcher is President Emeritus of Wheaton College in Massachusetts and prior to Wheaton he served as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Miami University in Ohio.  An accomplished cellist, he is a former member of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and several other symphonies.

He currently performs in the US and in Europe with the Klemperer Trio.  He began studying cello at age 14 with Elizabeth Potteiger. Of special note is his Carnegie Hall debut in 1985 and his being the first cellist to receive the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Yale University.

Dr. Crutcher and his wife Dr. Betty Neal Crutcher are the proud parents of Sarah Crutcher, an alumna Hampton University.

“Across the Arts”  creator + host Patrick D. McCoy is a native of Petersburg, VA, currently residing in the Washington, DC area where he extensively covers arts related events. His work has been featured in the Washington Post, Washington Life Magazine, Classical Voice North America, The Afro American Newspaper, CBS Washington and Early Music America, among others.  He currently serves as organist and choirmaster at Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Beltsville, MD and serves as an adjunct professor of music at his alma mater Virginia State University.
