John Malveaux of MusicUNTOLD.com writes:
Julius Eastman Vol. 1: Feminine is the opening entry in the
multi-volume anthology celebrating Eastman. The gay African American
composer's music was repeatedly dismissed during its day, but his
minimalist music is now being unearthed to critical acclaim. Julius
Eastman (October 27,1940-May 28, 1990) was also a pianist, vocalist, and
dancer.
Eastman died homeless at the age of 49 in Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, New York of cardiac arrest. Listen to Wild Up performance of Feminine on New Amsterdam Records https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKfFcZeGYm4 and see photo of Julius Eastman from Wikipedia.
