London’s Chineke! Orchestra under the baton of Maestra Kalena Bovell performed to critical praise, the European premiere of Adolphus Hailstork’s moving tribute to Reverend Martin Luther King, Epitaph For A Man Who Dreamed.
Premiering on December 14th on The Chineke! Foundation’s YouTube channel, the performance represented the UK premiere of a major symphonic work of African American composer Adolphus Hailstork as well as the European conducting premiere of Maestra Kalena Bovell, Assistant Conductor of The Memphis Symphony.
This historic concert conducted by Maestra Bovell also featured British/Black composer, Samuel Coleridge Taylor’s Ballade , Joseph Haydn’s well known Trumpet Concerto performed by Aaron Akugbo and Dvorak’s Eighth Symphony.
