CHARLESTON, SC November 9, 2018—The
acclaimed Charleston Gospel Choir
presents the 19th Annual Gospel Christmas
Saturday, December 1, 2018, 7:30 p.m. at Burke High School Auditorium, 244 President Street, Charleston.
A Lowcountry household name, the Charleston Gospel Choir brings real meaning to Charleston’s musical landscape
performing down-home traditional spirituals and gospel renditions including s including gospel arrangements of Carol of the Bells, Do You Hear What I Hear,
and Little Drummer Boy.
The performance will be conducted by acclaimed conductor
Dr. Antoine T. Clark, featuring the Gospel Christmas Orchestra comprised of regional musicians for a rousing celebration of gospel favorites, moving spirituals, and festive holiday arrangements. This year the
Queen City Singers of Charlotte, D.J. Boyd, Director, will join the Charleston Gospel Choir. Mr. Boyd guest conducted the Choir in Spring 2015.
“The Charleston Gospel Choir has a long history of ushering the holiday season so I am honored to be invited and share in
this holiday tradition,” said Dr. Clark.
“Associate Director Jennifer Ancrum has prepared the Choir well. We are honored to once again add to Charleston’s holiday
season offerings mixing holiday songs with wonderful regional and local musicians. Whenever we perform at historic Burke High School we are delighted—after
all, music is a staple of the school’s history,” said Lee Pringle, producer and President of the Charleston Gospel Choir.

An award-winning conductor with an engaging presence increasingly in demand on podiums worldwide, a passionate advocate for
the arts in education,
an actively performing clarinetist, and a composer.
The Founding Artistic and Music Director of the McConnell Arts Center Chamber Orchestra in Worthington, Ohio, Dr. Clark was
a winner in the 2017 International Conductor’s Workshop and Competition (Atlanta, Georgia), a finalist for the Respighi Prize in conducting. Most recently he served as Assistant Conductor with the Gateways Music Festival at the world-renowned Eastman School
of Music. Dr. Clark has also served as Music Director of the Wayne State College Orchestra in Wayne, Nebraska; Assistant Conductor of the Ohio State University Orchestra; and Artistic and Music Director of the Capital City Chamber Players (Columbus, Ohio).
He is currently Music Director of the university’s Wind Orchestra, and Adjunct Instructor of Woodwinds at Kenyon College and
Founder and Artistic Director of the Apollo Winds and performs with orchestras around central Ohio, including as an Associate Musician with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Clark earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in clarinet performance and the Master of Music degree in orchestral conducting
from Ohio State University. He holds the Master of Music degree in clarinet performance from the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.
