Lawrence Brownlee
(Delos)
This year, bel canto tenor extraordinaire Lawrence Brownlee’s
birthday falls on Thanksgiving day! So we relish this opportunity to
combine our warmest birthday wishes with not only our boundless pride,
but also our sincerest expression of THANKS that we can claim Larry as a
Delos artist.
Acclaimed worldwide as perhaps the greatest bel
canto tenor before the operatic public today, Larry has been showered
with awards and distinctions – not the least of which are the honors
accorded to his two vocally spectacular Delos albums:
Virtuoso Rossini Arias (DE 3455) was nominated not only for for a 2016 Grammy
award, but was also nominated for the best vocal recital prize in the
International Classical Music Awards (ICMA): Europe’s equivalent to our
American Grammy competition. And again this year, his Allegro io son
album (DE 3515) has garnered yet another nomination (same category) for
the ICMA’s top prize in 2017! And we’re keeping out fingers crossed for
another Grammy nomination (to be announced in two weeks). For both
albums, Larry shares the spotlight with maestro Constantine Orbelian and
his Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra.
What
more could a label hope for from one of its artists? So, Larry, as you
combine your birthday and Thanksgiving celebrations this year, know that
all of us at Delos will be giving thanks for YOU and your peerless
artistry!
