Caribbean music researchers Dr. Christine Gangelhoff and Cathleen LeGrand are seeking input from Caribbean composers.

Dr. Christine Gangelhoff

Dr. Christine Gangelhoff writes:

To date, co-authors Gangelhoff and LeGrand have published the two-volume Bibliography of Caribbean Art Music, which covers the entire non-Hispanic Caribbean. The goal of this project is to identify and list all available information on the art-music tradition of the Caribbean region.

The authors are requesting updates to the current entries and new information from Caribbean composers. Details are below.

This first volume includes composers born in the following nations: The Bahamas, Guadeloupe, Haïti, Jamaica and the U.S. Virgin Islands:

Islands covered in Volume 2 are Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Curaçao, Dominica, Grenada, Martinique, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago:

As we were unable to find information on art musical traditions in Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Montserrat, St. Barthélemy, Saint Martin/Sint Maarten, and the Turks and Caicos Islands, those islands are omitted from this volume. We would welcome information related to these islands.

In addition to the countries/territories listed, we are beginning work on Volume 3 which will cover Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Cuba. We are also taking submissions from these countries/territories at this time.

Any submissions, suggestions or questions can be directed to Dr. Gangelhoff:
