Jewish Times of South Jersey: 'Samuel Barber Quartet to Perform at Vineland’s Beth Israel'

The celebrated Samuel Barber String Quartet will perform a concert of music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Alexander Borodin, and William Grant Still at Beth Israel Congregation, 1015 E. Park Ave., Vineland, Sunday, March 4, at 2:30 p.m.

The ensemble’s program will include Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 1 in F major, Op. 18, No. 1, one of his loveliest chamber works; Borodin’s String Quartet No. 2 in D major, one of the great Romantic string quartets and famous for its famous 'Nocturne' movement; and Still’s Panamanian Dances, a work by one of our most prominent African-American composers featuring indigenous and Spanish influenced Latin American folk music.
