“The celebrated
Samuel Barber String Quartet will perform a concert of music by
Ludwig van Beethoven, Alexander Borodin, and William Grant Still at
Beth Israel Congregation, 1015 E. Park Ave., Vineland, Sunday, March
4, at 2:30 p.m.
“The ensemble’s
program will include Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 1 in F major,
Op. 18, No. 1, one of his loveliest chamber works; Borodin’s String
Quartet No. 2 in D major, one of the great Romantic string quartets
and famous for its famous 'Nocturne' movement; and Still’s
Panamanian Dances, a work by one of our most prominent
African-American composers featuring indigenous and Spanish
influenced Latin American folk music.
“The musicians of
the Barber String Quartet are violinists Alisha Dossumova and Nina
Vieru, violist Dennis Krasnokutsky, and cellist Rajli Bicolli.”
