The annual award, established by the Office of the Senior Vice Provost, honors the legacy of internationally acclaimed opera singer Shirley Verrett, who was also the James Earl Jones Distinguished University Professor of Voice in Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance.
A tribute and award ceremony on Sunday, November 6, will honor Ms. Verrett’s career, as well as celebrate Ms. Dickerson for her dedication to promoting the success of women of color students and faculty in the creative arts and for her commitment to diversity as part of the University’s mission.
Join us in celebrating the accomplishments of these wonderful women!
When: 3:30pm Sunday, November 6, 2011 (remember daylight savings)
Where: Stamps Auditorium in the Walgreen Drama Center
Kimberly Haynes and Kimberley Dolanski, two of Ms. Verrett’s former students, will be performing. The tribute and award presentation will be followed by a reception.
