Rogers, baritone, and Valda Bell, piano, will perform works of Robert Owens (b. 1925) at 5 PM Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Hillside Presbyterian Church, 1879 Columbia Drive, Decatur, Georgia. Dr. Rogers writes:
“Hello All,
You are cordially invited to attend the first in a series of Concert/Recitals featuring compositions of Robert Owens presented by Adagio Productions, Inc. - a 501(c)3 established to promote American History through the eyes of creative artists.

"Robert Owens was born in Denison, Texas, raised in Berkeley, California, has had a successful concert and composing career in Europe for several decades, and currently resides in Munich, Germany. In 1957 he was introduced to Langston Hughes who gave him a book of poems to set to music. I will perform two Song Cycles that Mr. Owens set to that poetry and I will also perform a third song cycle of Six Negro Spirituals that he arranged. Please see the attached poster and program.
