Prensa Latina: 'Havana: Leo Brouwer in Concert Featuring Jewish Composers'

“Havana, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) The concert 'North America and Its Music,' featuring the work of Jewish composers with live commentary by Cuban composer and guitarist Leo Brouwer, premieres Thursday in the Cuban capital. The program includes music from the soundtrack by John Williams for Schindler's List, a Steven Spielberg film; China Gates for piano, by John Adams; and Piano Trio No.1 Sweetgrass by Curtis Curtis-Smith.

“The concert will also feature songs from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, in version for violin, cello and piano; Piano Trio, by Charles Ives; Vitebsk: Study on a Jewish Theme; and Hoedown from the Rodeo ballet by Aaron Copland, in version for violin and piano. The concert will take place at the Basilica of San Francisco de Asis in Old Havana, and the performers will be Leonardo Gell on piano, Fernando Munoz on violin, and Alejandro Martinez on cello."
