The internationally renowned African American conductor Paul Freeman has conducted the Czech National Symphony Orchestra for many years. In 2002 Albany Records released a CD in the series Paul Freeman Introduces, Troy499, on which Maestro Freeman conducts Adolphus Hailstork's Sonata da Chiesa (Church Sonata) written in homage to cathedrals such as the one in which he sang as a young chorister in Albany, New York.
