BlackAmericaWeb.com posted an article on William Grant Still today.
We have made a comment in which we mentioned two recent CDs of William Grant Still:
“It is very fitting to remember William Grant Still's life and music. Just two months ago, Still's Symphonies 4, 'Autochthonous,' & 5, 'Western Hemisphere,' received their premieres on Naxos 8.559603 by the Fort Smith Symphony under John Jeter, conductor. Still's 'Poem for Orchestra' also received its premiere on the CD. On Oct. 27, 2009 Still's 'Lyric Quartette' and 'Christmas in the Western World' were released on 'The Toledo Clarinets,' Cambria CD-1190, in arrangements for clarinet choir and piano. Still wrote that Symphony No. 4 is about all of the people of the United States.”

Maestro John Jeter thanked us for the comment:
“Bill - thanks so much! Regards - John
PS - We are mailing out copies of the new CD to EVERY classical radio station in US and about 100 overseas. We also sent a copy to about 200 libraries in Arkansas (all of the libraries in the State actually).” [William Grant Still (1895-1978) is profiled at AfriClassical.com, where a complete Works List by Dr. Dominique-René de Lerma is found.]
