John Malveaux and Karen Walwyn
John Malveaux of MusicUNTOLD.com writes:
Saturday Dec. 11, 2021 heartful reunion with pianist/composer Karen Walwyn following her performance of Florence Price's CONCERTO IN ONE MOVEMENT performed and video documented for posterity by the San Bernardino Symphony under the exactful baton of Anthony Parnther to conclude the 1st half of the program. The program opened with Richard Strauss' DON JUAN and the entire 2nd half was devoted to holiday tunes sung by David Archuleta .
With a compelling voice,
conductor Parnther narrated an informative video (mini documentary) of
Florence Price's history and discovery by Karen Walwyn to set up Karen
Walwyn's performance with the San Bernardino Symphony. Karen's
unparalleled interpretation of Florence Price's CONCERTO IN ONE MOVEMENT
is available via Albany Records. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ54dddRI08 and https://www.karenwalwyn.com/.
On
Nov 15, 2015, I produced a concert celebrating the 150th anniversary of
13th amendment to the Constitution and the end of slavery in the United
States at Constitution Hall in Washington DC. Pianist/composer Karen
Walwyn debuted the 1st movement of her composition "MOTHER EMANUEL"
which she composed weeks after the horrific tragedy that occurred on
June 17, 2015 in Charleston, South Carolina. See pic pianist/composer
Karen Walwyn and presenter John Malveaux.
