Today, as we commemorate Carter G. Woodson's
139th birthday, let us use this time to reflect on how we can preserve
Woodson's rich legacy for the future. During ASALH's centennial year,
we will need support to return the Woodson House to an active and
thriving part of the historic Shaw neighborhood in Washington, D.C.
The Woodson Home was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976 and acquired by the National Park Service in 2005, it is currently closed to the public pending rehabilitation. Read more.
