Join the CSO AAN for a lecture
celebrating composer and conductor William Grant Still, who is widely
considered the “Dean of African American composers.” A prolific composer
of operas, ballets, symphonies and other works, Still also was the
first African American to conduct a professional symphony orchestra in
the United States. CSO AAN Director of Community Stewardship Sheila
Jones and Columbia College Chicago professor Stan West will share a
multimedia presentation about this immensely important composer’s life
and music.
