The
National Association of Negro Musicians, Inc., is the oldest
organization (founded 1919) dedicated to the preservation, encouragement,
and advocacy of all music by African-Americans. Reflecting on this
June 2017 Black Music Month, I recalled attending the Los Angeles
Georgia Laster Branch November 11, 2007 memorial concert that included a
tribute to Sylvia Olden Lee. Sylvia Olden Lee was born June 29, 1917. A
classical concert will be presented in her honor at Carnegie Hall on
June 29, 2017. Please see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3-R1dIqVjo&index=10&list=PLHCSgbI8Ttuabpv4xSjSpJ_Hj2C7E-d3R and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylvia_Olden_Lee
