Hello Everyone,
Many
of you already know that every year, the Morgan State University choir
presents our annual Spring concert, always the first Sunday in May! On
this coming Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 4PM at the Murphy Fine Arts Center,
we will present our Spring concert with a great theme: A Tale of Two
Masses! (Please see digital flyer attached).
On the first half we will future the very beautiful twenty-two minute Mass in G by
the Franz Shubert whose music was a bridge between the Classical and
Romantic eras with three incredible Morgan soloists. We will then share
a few excerpts from our All Rise performance with Wynton
Marsalis earlier this year. We will finish off the first half with with
a several spirituals and a cappella favorites.
The second half will feature Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass -
which I call the Catholic Mass with a little soul! We will finish the
concert with several Gospel favorites, with a finale singing Nathan
Carter’s popular Some Day (Beams of Heaven).
This
will all be accompanied with orchestra. This is sure to be a great way
to spend a Sunday afternoon. I hope to see you there.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. - Aristotle
