Hi Bill, Interesting! Having bought the CD some years ago when it first appeared, I was very impressed with this particular volume and in particular, ‘Epitaph for a Man who Dreamed’. This along with the splendid NAXOS CD’s of Dr Hailstork’s Symphonies set me wondering what was to follow. I maintain a belief that Dr Hailstork’s music will ‘travel’ well to this side of ‘the pond’ as it has great quality, lovely orchestration and, importantly wide appeal without indulging into excessive commercialism. I have held this opinion from the time that I first heard his work on the slightly ‘shaky’ but recording of his first Symphony on the pioneering recording conducted by Julius Welliams in the early 90’s. In some way, we need to get this music and that of a number of other composers of African descent across and I have blind copied this e-mail to a few influential people who might have further ideas, being equally concerned as myself.  Kind regards  Mike  [Michael S. Wright]
